Lt. Gen. Rodriguez apologizes - I think everyone feels sorrow and anger when hearing about the nine Afghan boys that were mistakenly shot down by U.S. helicopters on March 2. Things like this make Afghan civilians hate us even more, and add fuel to the Taliban's rhetoric. It makes us want to get out of Afghanistan all together. The helicopter pilots thought the boys were some of the insurgents who had attacked Camp Blessing by rockets earlier that morning, wounding one U.S. civilian. The U.S. had returned fire, and then called in two choppers to fire on insurgents in the area where they were told the rockets had come from. Unfortunately, those killed were only boys, ages 9-14, out collecting firewood for their families. This incident shows how difficult it is to fight terrorism. because the terrorists often hide out where innocent people live, making it difficult to avoid casualties like this. At least we do feel remorse and sadness over these incidents - it makes you wonder what the terrorists feel, since they continue to use these tactics that hurt their own people.

I personally think it is great that there are 34,218 Subways around the globe. I think this is great because people should be eating healthy sandwiches not fatty hamburgers and chicken nuggets from McDonald. Subway can be a very healthy choice depending on what you add to it, however, there are some sandwiches on the menu that are truly worse then getting a #1 from McDonald's because of all the extra thing you put on your sandwich. The calories always add up. Even though McDonald's has 32,737 restaurants around the globe, and there food taste good; it is not the best idea to eat there for several days in a row because you will just end up getting fat. Clearly I believe Subway very healthy and it is great they have 34,218 Subways all around the world.

I think that its a good idea that americans are starting to realize that to get more jobs you have to give them something to work on. This family that i saw on the news had pretty much everything foriegn made in their house so they decided to get rid of it. When they did they were left with next to nothing and had to wait the next day to start trying to find things that were made in America. At first they thought that they couldnt find anything because basically all the merchandise was foreign made. They finally started to get onto something and then they started purchasing things made in america but is wasnt easy and it took a very long time,finally after a long search they ended up filling their whole house with 100% american merchandise. Having american made merchandise will help give people jobs because if americans buys these american made stuff it will be making money forth economy to strengthen.

The U.S army should get better identifying people before they shot them. This one of the many things that makes people want to go to the Taliban instead of supporting the U.S.

ReplyDeleteThis just breaks my heart. I really don't know what to say about this, its just so shocking. It really shows what fighting for your country does to your mind. It makes you think that even the simplest thing could be a threat to your life. I think that they should get out of there ASAP. As for the boys my condolences to their families. Everyone makes mistakes that must be forgiven, but this is going to be a hard one to forgive.

I thin that the U.S army should be able to tell positively that the person they are shooting is the person they want before actually shooting the person. I do not think it is a good idea to advertise products on school buses because it can be dangerous for both the bus drivers and the children. It might not only distract the bus drivers and take their eyes off the road, but the advertisements might have inappropriate content for children. Even though advertising alcohol, tobacco, drugs, gambling, sexual material is illegal under the bill, it is still possible for the advertisements to contain that material.

We think it wasn't the helicopters fault they shot the kids. We think this because if you were in a helicopter in the sky would you be able to see a couple of kids looking for firewood? We don't think so. And besides,the family shouldn't have let them go by themselves. The parents must have known what could happen and if they didn't they found out the hard way. Even though it is sad the kids died the parents should have been more aware of your surroundings especially with everything that is going on right now.

For example, some fast food restaurants such as McDonalds and Burger King have very high calories and are not good to have every day for the rest of the week. Also, if people eat subway they aren't that likely to get fat after like 4 sandwiches compared to like 4 Big Macs. AND YOU CAN GET A FOOT LONG FOR ONLY 5 DOLLARS!!! :)

I think that its good that there are more Subway's than McDonald's. The people of the world finally realize that McDonald's is bad for you. why I think this is because in Subway it is fresh, you could choose what sandwich you want, and they have healthy sides. For instance they have yogurt and apples and water. McDonald's you have ice cream, soda, juice, and french fries! (Ice cream is good but not all the time). I think that it was totally unfair that the Afghan boys were shot by the NATO helicopters because all they were trying to do is help their family by picking out some wood.At the same time, these boys were so young-9 to 15 years old! These poor, innocent people didn't deserve such fate at all. The poor parents were worried sick that their children didn't arrive and went out to look for them, finding them dead. It pains me just to think of this horrible incident. All I hope for is that this will never happen again and innocent people will not be killed by the NATO helicopters.

I think that the shooting of those boys was terrible and, I can’t say that it was anyone’s fault, but I think the US should be more careful. You are losing lives of people around the world, plus we might be involved in a war that some others decide. It is very true that the helicopters had no idea, and they thought those boys were the ones, but you know that law in court, “innocent until proven guilty”. Yeah, I think that rule should apply here too. Make sure that those boys were really the ones they were looking for. The US is ruining its reputation without that, and killing other innocent people. I also think that we have to feel sorry for those boys who were killed.

Were not surprized the McDonalds isn't growing strong because it is not at all healthy for you. We think subway deserves to be the longest food chain. They have healthy choices and great deals on their food. Their is not one thing on the McDonalds menu that is at all healthy for you. At subway hey have really healthy sides and they have a lot of healthy stuff to put into your sandwich. We think it's a terrible thing that the afghan kids were killed. But we also think it's not the soldiers fault because they were told by the general to shoot in that AREA. They didn't say a specific place they just said in that area. We think this because false communication shouldn't be blamed on the soldiers. We also have an other side to it because the soldiers are trained to shoot/bomb the women, men, kids. Because the women,men,kids were also trained to handle guns and shoot at the American army so they have no other chose anyway.

I think it was very sad about the kids in Afghanistan and it wasn't either parties fault that was involved. Because they were kids though this makes it just THAT much worse. It wasn't the USA's fault because they could have been in danger if they were adults meaning harm. We think that the Challenger was a very important spacecraft that was instrumental to the construction of the ISS (International Space Station) as well as helping us learn more about space. The fact that it was sent to a museum helps wanderers learn about the marvelous journeys this space shuttle has had. They have stores in Churches, River boats, car dealers, bowling alleys, and casinos, which is very unique because nobody has those anywhere else. I like their chicken sandwiches(Nick). I think the earthquake/tsunami that happened at japan is a terrible thing because many people died and many are still lost. It also is sad to know that my family lives near and that I have a few friends who live in the area. I also feel bad for the people who lived there, because their homes are now gone, they don't have food or water, and their friends and families might have died in the tsunami. Also as if the tsunami and earthquake wasn't scary enough, now everyone at Japan is scared of the nuclear radiation. All in all I think the things that are happening at Japan are sad and terrible and I hope Japan will recover soon.

ReplyDeleteI believe its outrageous to devote millions of dollars to Egypt because we are also in a money crisis! thousands are unemployed and we are wasting our money on other peoples affairs. Although its good to be generous, we still need to fix OUR problem. Also 2 billion in financial aid is a lot to devote to Egypt. If you think of it in reality, where will we be? Yes we will help a lot of people in the world, but how would we help us? The U.S. is short on jobs, and this would decrease it more. So who is going to help us then? We owe China lots of money, possibly billions. Other places are on the verge of war or are in a crisis also. Just hope they think it over. It's crazy!
