I think the health care bill that was passed by Congress last year could be unconstitutional, as a recent Florida federal court ruled. I have this opinion because, according to the article in Internetbits, part of the bill says that all Americans MUST have health insurance, or else they will have to pay a penalty. The Constitution, however, gives Americans freedom of choice. People should be able to choose whether or not they want to buy health insurance. Forcing people to buy it seems unconstitutional.Other articles you could respond to this week include:

I think that the discovery of over 1200 planets is an AMAZING achievement for NASA. The fact that there are over 500 planets is already astounding. 1200 planets is outrageous! This discovery had about tripled the number of known planets. Think about it, 1200 other earthly figures around the universe that we know of. These planets have great variations though. Many are huge, while others are small. Also, they're a bunch of different shapes and designs for these planets. This is important because it shows the variation of all known natural objects. This also can be the solution for the end of Earth. No matter what, in several billion years, the sun will swallow Earth because it will turn into a red dwarf and expand. NASA stated that there are 54 candidates for a new Earth. 5 of these have a very similar design like Earth. One of hem is only slightly smaller than Earth, and 4 of them are slightly larger than Earth. This also wasn't stated, but they most likely fall in the habitat zone of planets. This zone is the distance from star which shows where it can sustain life. Overall, the discovery of these 1200 planets is amazing.

I think that "Punxsutawney Phil"from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvaniapredicted that there will be an early spring, the snow is most likely to go away, allowing warmer weather to join the country. Because Phil didn't see his shadow, there will be an early spring. If he did see his shadow and then go back into his hole, then there would be six more weeks of winter, which leads to colder temparatures. throught out the history of grounghog day, the various "Phils" have seen their shadow 98 times and they have came out not seeing their shadow 16 times. Unfortunately, Phil is only correct 40% of the time.

About one third of the US got covered in up to two feet of snow due to the terrible snow storm. It left an icy sheet of ice over many roads, and the 8th largest airport in the world was closed for two hours. I think this is bad for the US for a number of reasons. First of all, it caused many states to close down roads, and prevented the Tulsa Word from publishing their magazine. Because of this, the US economy might get bad, and lots of cities are full of snow.

Why I think this is because we could see different planets and and they might have life on them, if they have life on them then we may need to consider living on one of them as a replacement to the earth. I think NASA has done a great job discovering a new 1200 planets-more than people have found in history!I think that this is an important discovery because some of the discovered plants have similar atmospheres like earth and it could possibly sustain life which would be one of the biggest discoveries in the history of science! We think 1/3 of he states under snow is a horrible disaster that recently occurred. We think this because, many roads and airports are closed from Texas to Rhode Island. People can't transport with the mass of the storms. The storm is more than 2,000 mile reach! Some areas may get up to 2 feet of snow, but when it ends it gets worse..........! Temperatures in the mid west will get well below 0. Including gusty winds, and blizzard warnings! It's a recipe for diaster!

I think that that the United States is 1/3 covered in snow is not so great for the US, because, we easily suffer when it comes to snowy roads. Many flights also cancel out. So that means that finally we have almost no transportation. We can’t move from place to place, no contact with the world except Internet and telephone access. Physically, we can’t travel internationally; we can’t even physically travel within the United States (talking about states in snow). So, right now, since there is a lot of snow, and I can say that the US is suffering from snow.

I think it is great that Phil did not see his shadow. Because, even though it is warm here, over one third of the United States is covered in snow. It might not be true that winter is going to be two weeks early,(You can't always trust groundhogs) but it certainly may give people hope as to when the terrible blizzards will stop.

I think that the fact that we have found almost 1,200 new planets is amazing because any one of them could sustain life, and they are in what is known as the "Goldilocks Zone," which is the ideal location in orbit around a star that is not too hot or not too cold. This means that they are the perfect temperature to sustain life, just as our planet Earth is (and will hopefully stay, though global warming is rapidly changing that). Just think of the vast possibilities of our universe, which is a never-ending (as far as we know) expanse of space. In my opinion, it would be silly not to believe that there is life somewhere in the vast universe. Those 1,200 planets are just a tiny fraction of the universe---The possibilities of life are endless. Other life in the universe may not even be similar to us in terms of composition and resource needs, and therefore could, in theory, exist in places that are currently uninhabitable to humans because of adaptations to their environments.
ReplyDeleteIn addition, one of these planets could possibly be a candidate for a second Earth when our planet becomes uninhabitable. Hopefully we will have the technology to reach some of these planets by the time we finally exhaust our Earth of all of its natural resources or finally kill off the last of other life with our toxic pollution.
In conclusion, the discovery of all of these new planets that may be habitable to other life is amazing because it opens up possibilities for a new earth if our's becomes uninhabitable, or for the discovery of other life in the universe.
Its pretty amazing that nasa found 1200 planets because maybe on one of those planets can support life and have a new speicies on it which would be AMAZING!!!

I think that all the winter storms and natural outbreaks are disastrous. So many states have are covered in snow and now they are sending out teams to clear the snow. Hundreds of flights are being canceled because storms are covering all the airports. Oklahoma is covered in 4 feet snow drifts and temperatures in the Midwest are low. Winds are picking up a lot and visibility is at ZERO!

I think that the speed at which the revolution in Egypt is occurring is good. I think this because there has been many violent disputes between the protesters and government supporters, including several deaths and even more injured. If they are able to get what is best for them sooner, maybe less people will be harmed.

I think the big snowstorm that covered 1/3 of the United States with snow was unfortunate and caught people off guard, because many unpredicted things followed. Even with airports being closed down and flights being canceled, relying on car transportation is not the best idea, for the visibility level is at zero. Because of the blizzard alarms, it is clear that many people were not prepared for it.
